In 2018, the total reconstruction and restoration of a small outdoor garden staircase (so-called theatron), was launched in the area of Troja Castle. The building of the Troja Castle located in the protection zone of the monument reserve in the capital City of Prague is protected as an important immovable cultural monument registered in the Central List of Cultural Monuments. The castle, which is under the administration of the Gallery of the Capital City of Prague, was damaged by floods in 2002.
The construction restoration of theatron was divided into two stages. The first stage involved the reconstruction and restoration of a double wing staircase, a gate, balustrade railings, decorative elements and terracotta vases from pillars. The staircase was gradually completely dismantled, including the disassembly of the stair wings and the upper landing. All the base layers were demolished, including waterproofing layers and supporting reinforced concrete slabs, and the foundations were newly implemented. In the second stage of the project works, all the restored elements were fitted back. During the ongoing work, additional chemical and technological surveys were carried out. All the works were carried out under the supervision of the National Heritage Institute and the Gallery of the Capital City of Prague.
