Petr Justa (born 1955) is a graduate of the University of Chemical Technology in Prague, Institute of Chemical Technology for Heritage Care, and a widely published expert in the field of conservation techniques. He is a conservator by profession, specialising in architectural conservation and a fully licensed stone and stucco restorer, a long-standing member of the Commission for Heritage Conservation at the Ministry of Culture and former chairman of the board of the Institute of Restoration and Conservation Techniques. In 2009-2013 he was Vice Dean for Science and Foreign Relations at the Faculty of Restoration at the University of Pardubice. Since the late 1990s, he has served on the executive bodies of Gema Art Gorup and is currently the CEO of Gema Art International.
He has carried out surveys and/or participated in the restoration of important Czech monuments such as important Czech cathedrals, Baroque palaces in Prague, historic Jewish cemeteries and many others in the Czech Republic and abroad. In the last two decades he has worked on the restoration of cultural heritage in the Middle East. He has been involved in UNESCO projects to restore the ancient citadel in Erbil, the Choli minaret in Erbil, as well as to save the shrine of the Prophet Nahum in Alkosh, Iraq. He has a total of 40 years of experience in cultural heritage projects, has authored more than 40 scientific papers, is an ICOMOS Mission Expert and a member of ICOM, ICOMOS, APTI and WTA
